Left for Parts
2009

At this time in my practice, I was frequenting a salvage yard, full of classic automobiles getting parted out. A gunshot hole, here, a sideswipe there...if these cars could talk, oh, the stories they would tell. Now, there is grass growing up through them, and spiders making their homes, as nature silently reclaims them.

Entropy was at the forefront of my thinking, upon creating these prints. It was also the beginning of my investigation into entropy and how to express it via printmaking.

Creation and decomposition cycle over and over inside of this symbolic representation of a world of entropy. All the while, printed rust spots appear to float over the surface, a nod to the feeling one gets while watching someone or something else decay, a kind of denial of our own decay.
